Located on the Olympic Peninsula In Washington State about 100 miles from the most North Western point of the continental US.

The nursery is located at about 700 feet above sea level and 3 miles from any marine influence. Winter temperatures often reach about 5 degrees and a normal winter usually has 3 significant snow falls (being at least 6 inches)

One Person Operation From Propagation to Shipping

My policy is to send only plants I would want to receive. I work alone, all the propagating, shipping and even the web site is done by me. Such small hands on operations has its plus's and minuses. On the good side your insured very nice plant material which will be well packaged for transit. The other side of the story is there are reduced numbers and potential delays during peak seasons. Having owned retail stores my attempt is to treat as much as possible on line sales as personable as possible.

A small bit about me:

I grew up in the northwest hiking, fishing and hunting in the remote parts of the Olympic Peninsula

A large part of my adult life (20 seasons) was spent racing. In those seasons I raced road bikes, mountain bikes, short & iron man length triathalons and of course foot races winning both at the local level and national level in all of the sports. Now I hike, fish ride bikes and geocache with my small family.

Where does the nursery fit in? I had been landscaping and working as a parks maintenance person until we had our second child. We decided rather than haveing a day care raise the 2 boys I would quit working in the field and work on our own property raising not only the boys but also the plants offered through hardytropicals and bambu-u.com.

The first 1 gallon container is $7.50. Each additional container is $4.50 more. Use the contact page to inquire about larger pots shipping prices.

Botany

I was fortunate to have an extremely enthusiastic botany teacher who sparked my curiosity in taxonomy. The problems of identifying some bamboos became some what an addiction since they do not flower identity comes from close examination of the physical features.
